Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Notes
Suzan went to the village to monitor the progress of the healthy and safe kitchen program activities and the stove usage. On her way to the village it began raining and when she arrived there, she met a few community members gathered at the meeting place at the committee chairperson’s home since it was still raining. The members welcomed Suzan to their village and informed her of the other members who were unable to come to the meeting because it was still raining while others were seen digging in their gardens. And without wasting time the chairperson made a few reports about the number of stoves (16)that they had so far built for their new members at their neighboring village. This was very encouraging because the stove building became one of their income generating activities in their village. She also reported saying that the stoves had greatly improved on the lives of the members in the community in a way that they no longer suffered from smoke inhalation and other challenges they used to face while using the old three stones open flames for cooking. Other members had also managed to smear most of their home facilities such as the kitchens, main houses, latrines, shower areas and the stoves. And because of the rains, Suzan and the members present were unable to walk around the village that day. The members agreed on the date and time that the next monitoring would be carried out and the meeting came to an end with a closing prayer from one of the members.
