Committee Accomplishments

The committee has done a good job of taking good care of the borehole and it looks clean and well maintained

The water committee chairman not working closely with the rest of the committee members and sometimes making individual decisions without consulting the rest of his committee members and the community at large

Other Committee Notes

The committee need to come together and work closely with each other to ensure the smooth running of the borehole activities and the sanitation of the village. The committee as per now is not working together leaving a big gap to accomplish their roles. The big is issue was the chairman Mr. Sam Garevu being short tempered and sometimes not wanting to consult his fellow committee members when making decisions of how to manage the well. This recently brought divisions amongst the committee members and the village. The chairman also accuses the rest of the committee members of not being active and yet also the other committee members also do accuse the chairman of being a micro manager and not consulting them on the day to day management of their new borehole. This in turn had created a big problem of the committee almost breaking apart because of poor communication. One committee member who acts as the secretary called Alex to inform him about this issue that was happening and this prompted Alex to go back because they had failed to solve it. Alex gave an idea that the chairman step aside and let the vice chairperson play a role of uniting the committee and have a meeting to reach an agreement as a community on a way forward to come up with an active water user committee. Alex will keep in touch with them to follow up on this and make sure an agreement was reached and the committee is together once again. He will go back to remind the committee of their roles and responsibilities

The water source fence need to be worked on soon because it’s getting old and so poles need to be replaced. Also the soak pit need to be worked on

2019-06-12 - Purpose: A meeting with community and the water user committee about their roles and responsibilities and encourage every one to take good care of their well and maintain their sanitation and hygiene standards

The borehole compound is well maintained and well swept. Also many of the village home compounds were clean.
