Notes
Suzan went to the village purposely to teach the community members how to remove the banana stems out from the old built stoves. When she arrived there, she went straight to the meeting place where she found the members already gathered. They happily welcomed her and after exchanging greetings and discussing about the activity that day, they walked together to one of the members home where an energy saving stove was previously built and Suzan began taking out the old banana stems while the members watched. Suzan explained every step to the members just to make sure they understood and also told them the importance leaving the stems inside the stoves for at least one week after building it. She said this would enable the holes stay firm since the stove would have dried up a bit. She also encouraged them to keep practicing building stoves on their own for this would help them learn the skills easily and faster. Suzan requested the members to always keep smearing their stoves after one week of building to avoid cracks. The banana stems were taken out from two stoves that day and the members were so grateful for the lessons taught saying they would always practice how to build the stoves. The community members were also encouraged to smear all their houses so that the entire home looked neat and free from dust and diseases. Suzan thanked everyone for coming and together they agreed on the date that the next meeting would take place. The members then wished Suzan a safe journey back home.
