Notes
Suzan and Tape went to the village to teach the community members how to build a fuel efficient stove. When they got their, they found a few members gathered at the meeting place together with the program committee chairperson Mr. kassaijja. The members welcomed Kibo staff to the village and reported about some of their members who had gone to the healthy center early in the morning to receive vaccinations for the Herpititis B disease. They also requested Kibo staff to at least build one demonstration stove at one of their members home since they were free and had already received their shots before. Together they walked to the Rose’s home and participated in digging and collecting dirt from the termite hill and then stamped the dirt until it got ready for building the stove. The dirt was then carried into the kitchen and Kibo staffs requested the members to stand aside and watch the whole process of building the stove while they explained each step to them because this would enable them to try and learn the steps easily. Kibo staff encouraged the members to always work together as a group to make the work easier and faster. Some members especially the men tried to participate in building the stove but under guidance of Kibo staff. This also let them know how difficult it was in building the stove alone, thus making them understand the need of working together as a team. When the stove was complete, the members thanked Kibo staffs for the lessons taught that day and Kibo staff also thanked them for their participation in the building process. The members were also encouraged to continue smearing and repairing their home facilities for a healthy living. Kibo staff left the village after informing the members of the next date of the coming meeting.
