This visit was to conclude with the training of the water user committee reviewing their borehole roles and responsibilities. Alex together with the committee and the community members present discussed more about how important it was to maintain their sanitation standards and being equal responsible towards their borehole. They all reviewed the community roles and responsibilities towards maintaining their sanitation standards and all equally being responsible towards their borehole in order to manage its functionality and usage. The water committee was reminded to always be active being that without them, the well will easily breakdown if they forget their roles and responsibilities that they have to perform. Kibo would remain happy if at all the village is being responsible enough maintaining the village sanitation and borehole functionality. While in the meeting, the village chairman Mr. Kaida Joshua appreciated Kibo group once more for the support towards the development of their village through Sanitation program and provision of water. The village now has got a big relief from water stress because of the addition of the new borehole by Kibo group. Also many people put up their hands to appreciate Kibo group and vowed to maintain all the sanitation facilities because they realize it’s very important to have them. Alex made a transition for a new Kibo program called stoves that will soon start to work in this village for the second time. The stoves program is back in this village because many of the people missed out the first time and many people now have the kitchens to build the stoves. The village was extremely happy that Kibo was adding them a new program and are highly welcoming the new program. Among the people that turned up, there was a man called Michael who was proud to show off his 9 goats and thanked Kibo group for helping him reach this level from one goat received from Kibo group. He recently sold off two of his goats to lay school fees for his children at school. WASH will keep in touch with the community to encourage on sanitation standards

2019-07-17 - Purpose: Follow up on the sanitation and hygiene standards and borehole performance

Program Success

The village people still praise Kibo for all what they have helped their village achieve and mostly thank Kibo group for helping them realize proper hygiene and sanitation and reaching this standard.

Program Critical Needs

The village leaders need to remain pro active and encourage the all the village residents to maintain their sanitation facilities.

Program Ownership

The people being very happy about all what Kibo has done in their village and the borehole is looked after very well like a baby. The LC 1 chairman, Kaida Joshua reminding people to always have their homes clean as they enjoy the clean water that Kibo provided to their village.

Other Program Observations

One of the village member who received one goat was very happy to share his success having now 9 goats.

Program Expected Of Village

To complete the borehole bank account where the borehole money will be saved and to mobilize themselves for a meeting with the new stove program in the village

Program Staff Preparations Next Visit

Call the water and sanitation committee members to mobilize the village for a meeting and also follow up on the borehole performance and village sanitation standards
