Notes
Enock and Martin made a visit to this community to continue teaching, encouraging, monitoring, mobilizing, assessing and sensitizing the residents about the importance and benefits of good sanitation facilities. They walked home to home checking on the progress on latrine construction, dish racks, shower areas, kitchen areas, rubbish pits and teaching the core values of having each of the facilities in their home. They spoke about how to maintain all the facilities, how to construct good standard structures which are sustainable by using good materials like cement and sand for those who can afford them. For the families that have already completed their new latrines, we encouraged them to use ash inside to chase the flies which continue bringing diseases to their life. As we continued walking around home to home, we also spoke about the continuous expenditure on medication brought due to their own behaviors of open defecation and also issues of living children’s pup on ground which leads to many diseases like diarrhea, dysentery, cholera which even kill our beloved ones. The people in this community are so appreciative for the lessons we teach them and vowed to warm hard to improve on their sanitation. Already there are 3 new other pits under construction, 4 newly built latrines but they haven’t roofed them since their is scarcity of grass in this areas. We have already mentioned to them about the process of buying iron sheets to roof and they are willing to collect money to get them.
