Notes
Enock made a visit in this community to check on the progress of latrine construction, dish racks, shower areas, kitchen area and rubbish pits. He went to continue sensitizing, encourage, assess, guide the residents to work towards improving all their Sanitation and hygiene levels. During this visit, he met with all the local leader to first evaluate all their homes and encourage them to be so exemplary to their community. After, they teamed up to walk home to home checking on the new hand washing stations and ask questions if they are efficient and usable. The answer was these are simple designs and every can be able to construct it. There are so many new latrines and 5 new pits which we visited and saw. The homes with good latrines are encouraged to always use ash in latrine to chase flies out of their latrines and kill the bad smell. In the Home of Kalange Musa we saw a new pit latrine, shower area and he is working on his rubbish pit. We encouraged his wife to smear all the facilities and emphasized on standardization of all the facilities. There is also a gentleman who is called Waibe Mzee ho for a very long time they didn’t have a proper latrine in their home. When we visited his house which is next to the road, you could see how beautiful the house was but when you go to the back, it was so filthy with a lot of open defecation. He has dug a pit stop f 15ft and it was my first time to meet with him. He promised to complete his latrine in the next two week. He is planing to use cement, sand and bricks and his has already bought two bags of cement for the start. We also reminded the residents to about the benefits and challenges of open defecation and all the expenses on medication of their kids.
