Notes
Tom and the committee members discussed about how to get some of the committee members that have not been very active to start working and also participating in the sanitation program. This was raised when The chairman of the committee shared that some committee members are having it hard to move around sensitizing residents about sanitation and hygiene because even them selves lack the facilities. They resolved that they were going to meet some of those committee members and talk to them in person. The main purpose of meeting with them is to get them work on there homes and after that! They will feel free to talk to other residents. After the meeting, they moved around and they moved to the lower section of the village where they found new dish racks, shower facilities, new latrines and rubbish pits dug. In one home they found a man working on his shower facility. He was very happy and thankful to kibo and the sanitation committee members for always encouraging him. Next to his new shower facility was a place in the open surrounded by a mosquito net that he had tied around. He said he was getting ashamed every time his wife showered in it during day. Also in another home next to the swamp they found when the man in that home had constructed a new latrine and had roofed it as well. Tom guided him on the roofing structure on how to make it stronger. Also there were 4 new dish racks that were constructed. The residents raised and contributed money for the nails which they are using to construct the dish racks. While they were walking around, Tom and the sanitation committee members encouraged people to contribute money for the iron sheets and nails while 5 residents gave one of the committee members many for the nails. Tom thanked the committee members and residents for taking the lead in constructing good facilities by contributing money and other resources. He encouraged the committee members to be faithful and the residents to continue trusting and working together with the committee members.
