Alex first visited 12 homes to check on their sanitation and hygiene facility standards. He continued to encourage the people on facility standards and construction, teaching more about the use of ash in their pit latrines. Alex was very happy with a particular home that has consistently used ash in their pit latrine. Also many people have stepped up to improve on their sanitation and hygiene in their homes and the leaders together with the village health committee have continued to encourage the village on their sanitation and hygiene facility construction. Alex then had a meeting with the village leaders and the health committee to discuss about the village sanitation status and encouraging the village more about constructing sustainable facilities and roofing the new pit latrines that have been constructed in the village. It’s been noted that there are some pit latrines in the village that lack roofs and so Alex together with the village leaders discussed on how to help those that have not yet had their pit latrines roofed. Kibo group has got some more help to a few people that can contribute a fee of 7200sh towards buying an iron sheet. An iron sheet cost about 24,000/= and Kibo can top up to partner with the home that has constructed a pit latrine that meets the standards. Also Alex talked to the leaders to put more emphasis on hand washing facility construction and together they agreed to conduct another lesson on hand washing. There is a big problem in the village that Jerrycans are stolen by the dealers of plastics. For any plastic thing that is left outside at any time of the day, the dealers steal them and this has made most people not respond positively towards hand washing construction. The new Kibo design of constructing a hand washing station will be promoted in this village along side the tippy tap. The village leaders were very happy about Kibo’s partnership in Naibowa village and the help towards ensuring constructing sustainable facilities and roofing their pit latrines. A second household survey will be conducted in this village soon.

The village people highly appreciate the Mvule trees that were given by Kibo group a few years ago. These trees are growing very fast and some people have got cows out of one goat that was given to them by Kibo
