- Notes
- While in the village, Tom met with 4 committee members and they moved in the lower section of the village checking on sanitation and hygiene improvements as well as facility standards.
As they moved towards the lower section of the village, they first visited three homes in the section around the borehole. One of them is called Enock. Mr Enock has for a long time eluded the committee members when they want to speak to him about the latrine in his home. That day it was confirmed that he was in his home so the committee members felt it necessary to go there as a whole team with the kibo staff member.
They found him in his home and his wife called him from the house. Tom encouraged the committee members to speak to him with Authority but also with love which they did. One committee member asked where his family goes to defecate and he could not show them a latrine.
His wife admitted to speaking to him but had not taken any action. After the conversation with the committee members, Me Enock asked if the committee members could help him locate a pick axe so he can start digging by the next day. One committee member offed to find him a pick axe and the shovel. He was thankful and appreciative the committee members for going and encouraging him and also apologized for not being a good husband and father. He said he was going to start on the pit the next day.
While on the lower section. They found , 6 dish racks, one new latrine and 4 pits being dug. Three of the pits were already done. Tom encouraged the residents to build good foundations for the latrines before they start the construction. He also encouraged them to use good logs for there latrines if they are to last longer.
