Notes
Alex went to Nabituluntu to check on the new borehole that was installed two days ago and the new platform how it was responding. After the successful drilling of this borehole on the 23/12/2017, they managed to drill 48M and the drillers yield was 1200L/Hr. It was on Tuesday 9/1/2018 that the pump testing team started its work and it was installed with 13 pipes. The new platform was also worked on and this needs extra care to be able to dry well before they can start to use this borehole. Alex met with the chairman of the water committee called Sam and two other community members. He told them to make sure that they pour water on the borehole slab three times a day for the next 5 days and also maintain the banana leaves covers and thorns to keep away the children not to mess it up. He also told them to start gathering the poles to be used to build a strong fence. These poles have got to be very strong and big to construct a strong fence. He showed them examples of the size of the poles to be used. They have to also dig a soak pit measuring 6 by 6 size and fill it with stones. It’s only after thorough drying of the platform and building of a fence that the community will start to use this borehole. Alex also moved around the community homes carrying out a household survey and at the same time mobilizing every body to attend the next meeting on 19/1/2018 that is aimed at teaching the community the roles and responsibilities they have to play and about borehole ownership. Alex was able to finish a household survey in the lower section of Nabituluntu. Everybody is very excited that very soon they will be enjoying clean water from this borehole and thank Kibo for the help and indeed it has not been very easy to have water in this community as it took to drill two times to succeed.
