Notes
Tom made a visit to kalitumba to check on the status of homes that did not have latrines by the third evaluation and update the changes that have happened in those homes. When Tom arrived, he met the chairman and the vhts waiting at one of the vhts meeting place. They first held a short meeting about to discuss about the progress of the village and how residents have maintained there facilities. The vhts first thanked Tom for the work Kibo did in the village as regards sanitation and hygiene. They pointed out that for sure there is no longer open defecation in the village in any home you go to. Tom asked of the residents who did not have latrines during the third evaluation. The vhts pointed out that some of those residents have since then constructed while others still have not yet but they pointed out that for those remaining without latrines, they have places they go mostly to there neighbors latrines as most of them are related as brothers or uncles. Tom after requested the committee members to move around. They visited homes especially that did not have latrines by the third evaluation. In Gubi‘ short,e, his son has yet t construction his own latrine but he helped his father construct the latrine and his father offered him a room on his latrine that he uses. One lady called Anet construction her latrine as well as a young man named Digo. His father has also started on a new pit which is already finished for a new latrine to replace the old latrine. His father said he thanked Kibo for teaching them the value of sanitation and hygiene. He said from now no one will never tell him to construct a latrine as he’s now self driven and that is why he started on a new latrine before the old one filled up and collapsed. One of those residents still without a latrine promised the chairman that day that by the next day, he will have started on digging a pit. He said even though he shares with his aunt, he realized it was time to have his own. Tom encouraged the committee members and the chairman to continue engaging the community to maintain and improve in areas still with need for improvements.
