- Notes
- Suzan went to the village with the intention of monitoring the level of sustainability of Healthy and Safe Kitchen facilities such as the stove usage and smearing of the houses like the kitchens, main house, shower areas, pit latrines and the dish racks.
When she arrived there, she met some members and among them was the program chairperson madam kawanguzi who were all sitting at the meeting place under the mango tree.
The members welcomed Suzan to the village and together they sat down and discussed about the progress of the healthy and safe kitchens program in the community so far.
Thereafter, they got up and began moving around the village visiting home to home. During the visit, 27 members from the lower side of the village had maintained most of their home facilities such as having well built dish rash, smeared kitchens, shower areas, pit latrines, well dug rubbish pits and were all using the fuel efficient stoves for cooking their food.
Other members reported saying that they hardly found enough time to improve on their facilities because they woke up so early to go and attend to their gardens since it was now a rainy season, but promised to work on them once they got free time. Suzan requested the members to always maintain all their facilities whenever they got spoilt and also improve on their sanitation and hygiene within their community for a healthy living. She then left the village wishing them a happy healthy life.
