Notes
Abraham and Chris met thirty Bukhudumira community members, The meeting was led by the chairman who started by thanking the members for sacrificing their time to attend the meeting. He informed the members where they have reached towards opening the group account and said he did not find the CDO in office but promised to go back on 16th (Wednesday) to get the letter from the CDO to take it to the bank. The chairman thanked the members for being cooperative in all Kibo programs and also encouraged them to not give up until they reach where Kibo wants them to be. The chairman reported to Abraham about the progress of trees Kibo supplied, he said at that time there was a long drought so some trees did not make it , he said they made an effort to replace them with their own and requested Kibo to supply them with more trees to replace those that did not make it. The chairman requested Abraham to address the meeting, Abraham started by thanking the members for having attended the meeting and also cautioned them about the importance of planting trees and why they should replace the cut ones. Abraham talked about the benefits of working together as a community and why working together as a community is a core benefit of their community. Abraham requested the chairperson to get the letter from the CDO and open the group bank Account before the next visit. Towards the end of the meeting, Abraham and chris gave the members a chance to ask questions if they had any, the members had no questions except a one member who complained about a new kind of weed that was eating up their gardens.Abraham concluded by encouraging the members to work together and have good relationship with their neighbors.
Next Visit
2019-07-30 - Purpose: The purpose of the next visit is to engage with the community members and discuss what project to do because they have tried several projects in the past like growing beans and cabbages but they have been unsuccessful due to long droughts but this time around we would like to discuss and find out what the community can do best.
Program Success
Yes, The community members reached one step closer to open their group bank account, they are remained with getting the letter from the CDO on Tuesday then probably go to the bank on Wednesday .
Program Critical Needs
They need trees to replace those that did not manage to grow due to long drought.
Program Ownership
I observed that all the community members were so concerned that the some trees didn’t grow and some tried to replace the dead tree seedlings, the members wanted to know when Kibo will be able to supply them with more tree seedlings.
Other Program Observations
I observed that the community members were still concerned about their sanitation and hygiene in their homes .
Program Expected Of Village
Before my next visit, I expect the community members to have opened their group account.
Program Staff Preparations Next Visit
Before our next visit, we are going to call the chairman and find out where they have reached with the opening of the group account. We shall need to know from the chairman whether he got the letter from the CDO.
