Notes
Tape and Suzan went to the village to guide the community members as they chose their own leaders to lead them while implementing the Healthy and Safe Kitchens Program activities and also to help them form policies that will guide them as they carry out the program activities. When they arrived there, they found the members already gathered at the meeting place with some of their local leaders. The members warmly welcomed them to the village and the L.C.1 chairperson opened the meeting with a prayer. He then welcomed Kibo staff, requesting them to continue with their lessons that day. Tape and Suzan talked about the importance of selecting committee leaders within them, saying that the leaders would easily mobilize their fellow members and implement the program activities effectively. These leaders would also see that each member participated equally such as cutting grass together, fetching and stamping the dirt and each one gets a fuel efficient stove once they agreed to work together as a team. The members went ahead and selected their own leaders because its them that knew the honest hardworking members within their community more than the Kibo group staff. Among the committee leaders was the Chairperson, secretary, treasurer, time keepers, mobilizers, disciplinary officers and their vices. The members happily appreciated the method of choosing committee leaders, saying this would help them participate easily in the program activities. Finally the meeting came to an end after they all agreed on the next date that the next meeting would take place.
