Notes
Tom and the health assistant made a visit to the village of kishaike to check on sanitation and hygiene improvements as well as tomcheck on the progress of facility constructions. When they arrived, they were welcomed by two of the committee members before others joined them. Tom also requested that the committee members give a short report about the progress of the program in there village. They spoke about the improvements made because of Kibo’s interventions in the village to improve on the sanitation levels and standards as well as about the new innovations that kibo has taught them especially the new dish racks. The health assistant was very impressed to see some of the dish racks and also the latrines being dug. The health assistant was left earlier because of some other commitments but Tom and the committee members decided to move to the section that residents were not responding to sanitation and hygiene. On there way to that section, they found a new latrine that was still under construction but in the later stages of the construction. Only finishing with roofing and putting doors was remaining but the latrine was well constructed. Tom thanked the resident for putting in his efforts to construct a good Latrine for his home. Tom also encouraged the resident to put doors and the hand washing stand. The resident was also thankful to kibo and the village leaders for there encouragement. When they reached the upper section, they found some residents in there homes while others were not there but there was a sign of change taking place. They found in the home of one elderly woman a very good dish rack recently constructed as well as a new shower and likewise in the home of the neighbor to the chairman. Some of the committee members suggested that because time had gone, the meeting to be canceled. Tom encouraged them to put in more efforts to move to that area of the village and continue encouraging and sensitizing residents about sanitation and hygiene. One committee member committed to doing it himself.
