When Tom arrived in the village, he found the chairman and some of the committee members at a resident’s home who had lost a newly born child. Many residents were there. Tom and the chairman met at a nearby resident’s home and discussed the progress of the program. The chairman offered to move Take Tom around in a few homes to show him what residents have done. In the upper section, they found a resident who recently constructed a hand washing stand and put a layer of cement as well as a,layer of cement on the shower structure. Tom appreciated the resident for taking the initiative to improve on his home while his neighbor had also started on the construction of the latrine. There were also more new hand washing stands and some had jerican son them. They were actually being used for washing hands. In one home the resident had also finished constructing a new latrine. Tom thanked him for the improvements he has made to his home. Tom also discussion and encouraged the committee members to continue spreading the message of sanitation and hygiene in the savings meeting they have every week so that most of the members to those groups can continue improving. Tom also encouraged the committee members to be strong and work together to improve on the village instead of leaving the work to the chairman and a few committee members. Tom had to leave early because of the burial which was going to take place so the chairman and the committee members went to the burial and Tom left for jinja.
