Notes
Enock and Martin made a visit to this community to check on the few homes which hadn’t completed their latrines or didn’t latrines during our final survey. When we arrived, we met with the local leaders to first talk about progress of sanitation and hygiene of the village. The chairman and VHTs told us about the new latrine which have been constructed ever since the wash team left this community. We continued walking around around the community to check in the facilities which are newly constructed and advised them how to maintain them. There have been a good foundation laid in this community where the local leaders are given time to talk about issues concerning sanitation during any event or function in the community. We continued to emphasize the importance of sanitation and hygiene and embracing change to develop there community. The most stubborn people who took long to construct there latrine have finally completed there new latrines. We made a visit in those homes and they were so happy using there facilities. This community has greatly impressed us by making rules for their community for any new residents who is married is first of all required to construct a good latrine. This is a new policy which is helping them to continue move the sanitation program forward.
