Notes
Suzan went to the village and met some of the committee members for the Healthy and Safe Kitchens program at the meeting place. The purpose of the visit that day was to monitor the maintenance of the Healthy and Safe Kitchens facilities. The leaders together with Suzan started moving home to home especially at the upper side of the village while looking at different facilities. Most members had now began cooking on their new stoves effectively and reported that their food was always cooked in time yet the stove also consumed less firewood. The men were so happy for the program saying it has really improved and strengthened their marriages which were threatening to break due to several problems they faced with their wives such as taking longer hours in the bushes in search for firewood, accidents in the kitchens, taking longer hours in cooking food.....,however things were now changing! Some members have also maintained their kitchens, shower areas, pit latrines by smearing them and constructing stronger dish racks and rubbish pits. Suzan kindly requested the leaders to always find time and monitor each one’s home and make sure they maintained and repaired all their facilities for this would help them develop effectively hence living a better healthy life. Suzan then left the village thanking the members for the good work done and the time they spent moving together.
