Notes
Nabituluntu community will very soon start to enjoying the safe water from the new borehole that was recently drilled by Kibo in this village. After the successful pump testing and casting that was well done, the community members were very busy working on a new fence and Alex helped to guide the community on how a strong fence should look like. He appreciated the big and strong poles that were used to build the fence. He also guided them on the size of the soak pit to be dug. The men that turned up were able to cover up a bigger part of the job and promised to finish up the remaining work the following day. He checked again on the new platform to see how well it was responding to dry and it was drying very well a fact to show that the community had taken good care of it. Alex was also able to remind the committee members and the rest of the community to attend the general meeting coming up on Friday that will involve more training of every body to take good care of the well before they start using this borehole. Also this meeting will involve every one to know the roles that have to be done and the responsibilities. The community is expected to start using this borehole by next week. He then went to the upper section of the village and continued with the household evaluation and he managed to reach 20 homes checking the standards of all the facilities. He reached the upper borehole that was repaired by Kibo recently and saw that it was again not working very well as required. He found out that it will need new bearings and also noticed that there was a reduction in the water flow a sign of worn out rubber buckets. Alex reminded every one that it was very important to maintain all their facilities all the time and some of the people have done a good job on this. He hopes to finish up the house hold survey for every home next visit.
