On Tom’s arrival to the village, he found when the chairman was in the upper section encouraging residents about hand washing stand construction. Tom also joined him in about 8 homes checking on the hand washing stands as well as encouraging the residents about the standards as well as improvements. After, they left the upper section to move moved towards the lower section to check on four homes with latrines and pits under construction. As they moved, they found a resident working one a new shower facility as the old on had collapsed. Tom appreciated the resident for being proactive and encouraged him to continue even when it comes to other facilities. Also in another home, the resident had started on a new latrine as well as constructing a new piggery structure. Tom was impressed by the residents innovation and encouraged him to teach also other members in the community about the piggery structure. In the four homes, there was one latrine finished and one of the other residents said he had bought materials for his latrine. Tom also encouraged the chairman to speak to the other two residents so that they can also work and finish there latrine. On the side of hand washing stands, there were more new hand washing stands with cement coating as well. The chairman said there were more residents who were doing constructing and doing the ha d washing stands. Tom also encouraged the chairman to talk to the other committee members to help him in the mobilization as well as sensitization of the community.
