Notes
Introduction Lorna was at Bukhana Primary School where she continued with HIV/AIDS Awareness skills. Overview When Lorna arrived the School, the pupils were gathered under a tree listening to the Reverend preach to them. He preached for about 2 hours which encroached on the Life Skills plan as was made earlier. However after the Reverend had finished , teacher Steven announced for the Life Skills Pupils To hurry back to class. In class Lorna started by telling the pupils of their general performance on the communications post test and congratulated those that topped the class and encouraged those who did not perform very well not to give up but to always read hard and as questions as well as make friends with those who performed better than them. Lorna then distributed the papers and together they did corrections as Lorna wrote the answers on the board. Lorna then did a preview of the last lesson where she taught on the immune system. She did this by asking the pupils questions as they answered so as to make sure they understood. She then introduced the topic of the day which was HIV/AIDS Transmission where they looked at activities that transmit HIV, activities that don’t transmit HIV. They also looked at the relationships between Sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS as well as the signs and symptoms of each. They also looked at HIV prevention and here they looked at universal precautions and non universal precautions. They were also to look at Women and HIV/AIDS where they were able to see that women are at a higher risk to getting HIV/AIDS because of biological and cultural factors. They then looked at General signs of someone considered to having HIV/AIDS and those specific to only women which are not so much documented on. Conclusion Since time had been far spent, Lorna did not explain these notes but just wrote them on the blackboard as the pupils took notes. Part of the reason was because they are lagging behind and also because the School term is almost coming to a close and so Lorna wanted to make sure that this topic is completed before the end of term. Lorna returns Friday 9 to explain all the notes and continue with Women and HIV/AIDS .
