Notes
Introduction. Manuela went to bukudomira village to teach the community members about disease Progression and positive living. Disease Progression means the time a person gets infected with HIV to the time a person start developing the signs and symptoms associated with AIDs. This lesson is very important because it educate the community members the sense of testing for HIV virus three to four times before marriage. Objective By the end of the lesson, community members will be able to know what diseases Progression is By the end of the day, members will be knowing the importance of testing for HIV before marriage. By the end of the lesson, members will be able to know all the stages of disease Progression and positive living. Overview When Manuela reached the village, she found members already waiting for her, Manuela came out of the car and greeted them, Manuela was very happy to meet members at the meeting place and even community members were happy too. After that, Manuela started her class by asking for any volunteers to pray then she can start teaching, a man by the name Swayibuh prayed in Islamic language. From there Manuela asked the members to remind her about the previous lessons, they tried to share their ideas about their lesson which they learnt, after that, Manuela introduced the new lesson and she asked them after that what is disease Progression? None of them could mission an answer. After that, Manuela explained to the community members that disease Progression is the time when a person gets infected with the HIV virus and the times when someone starts developing signs and symptoms associated with AIDs. Manuela went on and told the members that the virus moves stage to stages for example, there is a window periods, this means the time when a person gets infected with HIV virus, during this time, a person is so infectious, but this person can still test negative simply because test indicates antibodies, this period can last for 1-5 years. Incubation period, this is the time between infection and the time when a person starts developing signs and symptoms associated with AIDs, during this time a person can become sick , when ever he goes for test he/she test positive, during this period a person can live with the virus for many years for example 10-15 years. Lastly , honeymoon period, Manuela explained to the community members that, this period is the end of window periods and the end of incubation period, during this period, a person lives with the virus harmoniously , meaning here a person looks so healthy and some times the viral load is law and a person can even test negative. Finally, Manuela taught the community members about positive living, Manuela asked the members to mention some of the practice that a person who is HIV positive should do in order to live longer? Members tried to share their ideas for example, they said that , that person should always take his medication in time, they should eat well balanced diet foods, doing simple exercise, treating sexual transmitted disease in time and among others.
