Notes
Manuela went to bukudomira to teach about women and HIV/ AIDS. This lesson is aimed at educating community members women and children are the most at higher risk of catching disease, Manuela told the women should be very careful and their children too. Objective -By the end of the lesson, women and men will know why it is very important to teach them about women and HIV/AIDS -By the end of day, members will be knowing why women are very vulnerable to disease. Overview When Manuela reached the village, she found no body at the meeting point, they where still in the garden, after some minute, they came and Manuela started her lesson. Manuela started by asking the members about the previous lessons, members were able to share their ideas, after that, she introduced the women and HIV, Manuela asked the members that why do they think that this lesson is called women and HIV not men and HIV? One woman said that because they are the mothers and they are the one who pass the virus to their babies during birth, Manuela gave members chances to try their different views about the lesson. After that, participants managed to share their ideas about the lesson and after that, Manuela explained to the community members that, the way God created a woman is different from a man for example the private parts of a woman is inside and that makes women to stand a higher chance of being at a risk of catching the virus while the ones for men are outside, and that makes them to law chances of catching the disease but it dose not mean that men do not get infected they do. Manuela went on and also explained to the community members that, there are also some cultural practice for example the cutting of the female private parts ( female genital Mutilation ) forcing young girls to get married while still young and putting barbs on women private parts so that to make their private parts tight , all those practices can speed up the chance of women to catch the virus and disease. Reactions Manuela gave the members time to react to the lessons that Manuela taught them. Members tried to react some of the lessons, one woman asked Manuela that what should they do to reduce high risk among them , Manuela told them to be very careful. Finally, Manuela encouraged the participants to be very careful about their bodies, she also told them to share what ever they have learnt with their fellows who were unable to come.
