Notes
Alex met with the vice chairperson of the village and the sanitation committee members to demonstrate to them a new hand washing design which could act as an option to the tippy taps. Many people in the village have complained of the Jerrycans being stolen by the plastic dealers. Alex demonstrated the new design again to the leaders and this time round they have grasped the idea very well to roll it out to the village. Many people seem very interested to construct this in their homes to be able to practice hand washing. The people have also put some money together to buy some cement to construct long lasting bathing shelters with cement on the top and these hand washing stations. They managed to visit some few homes to check on their sanitation progress and saw two new pit latrines under construction and one was nearing completion. These two people after building the structure, they will be waiting to roof them with the iron sheets they contributed for from Kibo group. Fifty households did contribute money towards buying an iron sheet to roof their pit latrines and are waiting on Kibo’s share before they receive these iron sheets. On a very sad moment, there was a funeral in the village for one of the community members that had passed on and Alex didn’t much as planned and so took off some time to visit the family that had lost a dear one to encourage them and pray with them. The village leaders promised to use this platform to continue encouraging the village to improve on their sanitation standards in those homes still lagging behind up to now. WASH staff will continue to go back to follow up on sanitation improvements in the village
