Notes
Tape, Jeska and Suzan went to the village to practically teach the community members how to build the fuel efficient stove. When they arrived there, they found the members gathered at one of the homes where the stove was going to be built. They warmly welcomed kibo staff to the village and the committee chairperson informed them how they had already assembled the building materials in different homes. But because of the weather which was threatening to rain heavily, the members were divided into two groups whereby one group went to another home while the other one remained at the same home. This was important because it enabled each person to find enough space especially in the kitchen and watch critically how the energy saving stove was built without squeezing one another. Each group was led by kibo staffs who then stamped the dirt together with the community while dancing and singing songs of joy which encouraged them more to work together. There after, the dirt was carried into the kitchens and kibo staffs began building the stoves step by step while explaining the whole process to the members. The members also kept on asking questions during the process because it helped them learn easily while trying to master the skills. Two demonstration stoves were finally built on that day which made the community so excited. Kibo staff requested the members to always try and see that they improved in their general hygiene and sanitation around their homes especially by smearing all their buildings and stoves oftenly so as to look much more neater and healthy. The community thanked kibo staff for the lessons taught and then agreed on the date that the next meeting would take place. they wished them a safe journey back home.
