- Notes
- Tape and Jeska went to the village with the purpose of teaching the community the values/importance of smearing their buildings as well as to identify the particular buildings to be smeared.
When they got their, they went straight to the mosque where the meeting was going to take place and found the members already gathered there. They welcomed them to the village and the Chairperson L.C. 1 opened the meeting with a prayer and later invited kibo staff to take over the meeting . Kibo staff informed the members about the smearing lessons that were going to be discussed about that day, requesting each one at least to participate in the activity.
Tape began by asking the members the main reasons as to why smearing buildings was important and most of them raised their hands saying it made the homes look very neat. All the answers said were correct although they missed out some of the things. Kibo staff then went ahead explaining the importance of smearing such as minimizing dust in the houses, stopping insects and certain creatures from entering the houses like the mosquitos, jiggers, ticks, rats and snakes. It also stopped the buildings from cracking and getting old generally making the homes look healthy to live in.
Jeska encouraged each member to begin smearing all their buildings and also pointed out the particular houses to be smeared such as the kitchens, shower areas, main houses, pit latrines and the fuel efficient stoves.
Together they agreed to demonstrate how smearing was carried out in the next coming meeting because not everyone knew how to smear their homes perfectly. The members were so pleased for the lessons that day, thanking Kibogroup for the educative programs introduced in their village. The meeting finally came to an end with a prayer from one of the members.
