- Notes
- Suzan went to the village with the purpose of monitoring the maintenance of the healthy and safe kitchens facilities such as the stoves, kitchens, shower areas, pit latrines, rubbish pits and dish racks.
When she got there, she found a group of members walking by the roadside and one of them informed Kibo staff how they had lost one of their elderly members due to the blockage of tubes that he suffered from for quite a long time. And most of them had already left for the burial ceremony which was taking place at the upper side of the village.
Suzan managed to meet with some committee members at the lower side of the village, who agreed to walk around a few homes with her while monitoring the program facilities. During the process, Suzan found that most members had improved in their sanitation and hygiene and had also well maintained their stoves and other facilities by smearing them and repairing their dish racks although they were eaten up by the termites.
Together they fixed a date where they would meet and discuss more about the challenges they faced and how to find possible solutions for them. The members thanked Suzan for the visit and wished her a safe journey back home.
