Notes
Tape and Jeska visited Bupeni village abruptly with the purpose of finding out if the program facilities were well maintained or not. When the reached there they found some committee group members sitting under the tree discussing issues concerning their village. They warmly welcomed kibo staff and after exchanging greetings, they agreed and walked kibo staff around the village visiting homes while monitoring the facilities. Some homes had greatly improved in their general sanitation and hygiene in a way that all their facilities looked great such as the dish racks, stoves and the kitchens, shower areas, latrines, which were well smeared. Other members failed to repair their facilities saying they didn’t have enough time because they spent most of it in their gardens. Kibo staff advised them to improve on their sanitation around their homes and repair their spoilt facilities so that they lived a happy healthy life with their families. They also requested the leaders to always see that they monitored their fellow members on daily basis because this would force them to work hard in repairing their facilities. The members were also so grateful for the stoves, saying how it changed their entire lives because they no longer spent much time in the bush looking for firewood since the stove used less firewood. The stoves cooked their food in time and they no longer suffered from smoke inhalation. Tape and Jeska thanked the members for embracing the healthy and Safe kitchens program and the meeting finally came to an end wishing them a happy healthy stay with their families.
