- Notes
- Harriet met the chairperson of the group Ms Kagoya and asked her to walk with her to the homes inspecting the progress of the Healthy and Safe kitchen program.
It was interesting to see all the members cooking on stoves on daily basis and this was incidences by the absence of three stones in the kitchen and also finding food cooking by itself in the kitchen as the owners were in the gardens.
Also one member called Nabirye uses her stove to generate income because she cooks pan cakes and sell to get money to support her family.
Also some men said that cooking is now easy and they are now helping their wives to cook food because it’s convenient due to the absence of smoke, it cooks and uses less firewood.
One of the member called Naigaga said that her family relationship has been improved by the presence of the stove in her home because she is able to serve food on time and the husband who used to complain over delayed food now appreciates because he is always served on time.
Harriet encouraged them to maintain their facilities well smeared so that they will last longer. She also advised the group to scale out to the neighboring communities so that they can generate some income also help their neighbors to live a better life by cooking on the stoves.
