Notes
Harriet found some participants waiting at the meeting place who warmly welcomed her to their village. She asked them about the process of stove building, usage and smearing of the home facilities. The chairperson of the group Mrs Magret Waiswa told Harriet that most of the participants who had quality stoves were able to build for them stoves and the number is now 39 ( that is 39 members all have stoves) She added that other members are also working on their home facilities in order to qualify for getting stoves. Harriet asked the group to tell her about their feeling for the program. One member called Kasadha Swibu told Harriet that the stoves have also helped their wives to improve on sanitation and hygiene since it uses less fire wood thus produces less ash which can easily be removed from the kitchen. He added that now their wives can bath before cooking, put on clean clothes as they cook because the stoves have created a good cooking environment since the it vents out smoke which would otherwise make them sweat, develop running nose , and affect their chest and eyes leading to eyes and chest related diseases. Harriet asked the men to continue supporting their wives in any development program and also the women to ensure that they participate and maintain such programs. She also encouraged them to maintain the team spirit ,ensure other members also get stoves, continue smearing their facilities for them to look neat and last longer.
