Notes
50 iron sheets were given out to people that contributed for them. The government leaders that were present were very happy to Kibo group for the support rendered to Naibowa village towards building sustainable pit latrines. Kibo group partnered with the village contributing 70% and 30% from each village member to buy one iron sheet for every household. Some people were hesitant to contribute because of fear in some people that their money would be stolen and could not believe that these iron sheets would be bought by Kibo group. This fear comes as a result that some unscrupulous people and fake organizations have coned off people their money. Those that had not contributed to get an iron sheet came to Kibo staff to beg if there could be another chance because they were initially doubting. Every one was happy receiving his sheet and together moved to see the new hand washing stand that is being demonstrated in Naibowa village. The government officials were excited to see this new kind of hand washing stand from Kibo group as another option besides the old tippy taps. This village was taught about tippy taps construction and usage but this method has struggled in this village because very few people have them now and others complain of termites eating up their tippy tap poles plus stealing the Jerrycans by the plastic dealers. This kind of design has been highly welcomed by the village people and many have shown interest to construct them in their homes. Some people brought in money to the sanitation committee members at the spot to buy some cement to built their hand washing stands and improve on their bathroom strength. WASH will go back to follow up on pit latrine roofing by all those that received the iron sheets.
