- Notes
- Ida went to Ikumbya and taught about "Hygiene"
She focused on personal hygiene. Women tend to work hard and forget to take care of them selves. It starts from washing hands with soap. Many don't use soap before but after. Ida taught the importance of using soap. Others believe that using soap leads to poverty. Ida explained how soap kills the germs that hide under our nails. Personal hygiene is vital because germs are killed when we bathe. It would be best to bathe twice a day in the morning and evening.
Some women gave reasons as to why they don't bathe. Bathing without soap doesn't make sense. If they use soap twice the one who buys soap starts complaining that they are using it extravagantly.
Ida continued explaining how soap can help save money incase one fell sick of diarrhoea or anyother related diseases, which money would be taken by witch doctors and medical officials. Prevention is better than cure.
She continued and told them that if the community wants to have a saving scheme, then they must practice hygiene and sanitation, as one can't save when a child is dying.
