- Notes
- David and Steven were in the village to guide the community members as they were constructing their borehole fence and sock pit. As the Kibo staff were in the village they first visited the ten homes which were reported by Tape Bwana that they had not maintained the required sanitation standards as the rest of the entire village. The only challenge with the ten homes was that the hand washing stations in those homes were not in place. However the kibo staff reminded the owners to construct them. David went ahead and even demonstrated for the members in those home about the dangers of not washing their hand after having visited their latrines. The members promised the Kibo staff that by their next visit they will have the hand washing stations in place at least in each home. After that they crossed to the borehole. Unfortunately they found the sanitation committee members and some community members had just started collecting the poles to be used when constructing their borehole fence. Therefore because the time had gone ,the Kibo staff just demonstrated for them the rightful measurement s of how their borehole fence would look like . They also advised them to use the remaining time to dig their sock. The village along with the committee members dug their sock pit and it was finished.David and Steven left two assignments with the village . One was to fill the stones in the sock pit they had finished to construct. And another assignment was to do with the finishing up of their fence construction. Also because David and Steven left the village for jinja they advised the village to continue contributing towards their borehole account as they keep working together as a village.
In general according to the hygiene and sanitation status of the entire village was good. Except for the few homes which had the need to improve on their hand washing stations.
