- Notes
- Harriet made a surprise and this was intended to see whether participants use their stoves on daily basis .
She walked home to home while inspecting the progress of smearing of their kitchens and stoves. It was interesting to see when most of the participants had already started smearing except e few who had brick houses.
Harriet asked the participants why they had not smeared their kitchen and they told her that their husbands did not want them to smear their kitchen with cow dung and sand because they are planning to buy cement and plaster them.
Harriet told the women to always remain their husband so that their kitchens look neat and last longer. She also reminded them to at least do their part of smearing their stoves as they wait for their husbands also to plaster the kitchens.
She also found two homes with three stones fire along side the fuel efficient stove and when she asked them the reason why they use both and they said that their children don’t know how to light the stove so they prefer cooking on three stone fire.
Harriet reminded them about the dangers of cooking on open flames and asked the mothers to teach their children how to cook on fuel efficient stoves to avoid problems that may come as a result of cooking on open flames.
The participants promised to change because they have realized that it still dangerous to remain cooking on open flames along side stoves.
