- Notes
- Suzan, Jessica and Tape went to the village purposely to guide the members as they built their own fuel efficient stoves. When they arrived there, they met one of the members who directed them where the other members were.
Together they walked to one of the homes where stove was going to be built and found the members gathered their with their leaders. The community members were so happy to see kibo staff and after exchanging greetings, they divided themselves into two groups which were led by Kibo staff and one group remained at the same home while the other went to the second home.
Each home had already prepared all the materials for building which made the work more easier and faster. The members participated in collecting the dirt from the termite hill, carried it to the compound next the kitchen and Kibo staff began measuring the grass and the dirt mixing up six basins of grass and 12 basins of dirt because the owners of the homes requested for bigger stoves since they had big families and big saucepans.
They all stamped the dirt together while singing and dancing and this made them feel less tired. Some members went ahead and cut the banana stems while shaping them, this was a very important step that each member needed to master because without cutting the stems in a proper way, would destroy the stove instead.
Thereafter, the dirt was carried into the kitchens and each member participated in building the stoves with the guidance of Kibo staff. Two stoves were successfully built on that day and the members rejoiced while dancing and singing for the new stoves.
They thanked Kibo group for the educative programs introduced in their community saying how their lives have begun changing from bad to good. Kibo staff then thanked each one of them for participating in the program activities encouraging them to always maintain their sanitation and hygiene facilities for a healthy living. The meeting finally came to an end wishing one another a happy stay.
