Notes
Suzan went to kagulu A purposely to teach and guide the community members how to remove the banana stems from the energy saving stove which were built a week ago. When she arrived there, she met one of the members who led her to the homes where the other members had already gathered. Suzan was warmly welcomed to the village and after they exchanged greetings, they divided themselves into two groups whereby one group went to another home while the other stayed back. Dividing groups was very important because it enabled everyone to watch critically how the stems were taken out and also to participate in each step. Suzan supervised and participated in the whole process while explaining everything to the members making sure they tried to understand each step. She explained to the members the main reason why the stems should be left in the stoves for one week after building it because by that time the stove would have dried up making the entrances stay firm and strong. Suzan kept on monitoring and supervising the two groups and each member tried participating in the smoothening/smearing of the stoves. Finally when they were done with the stoves, the community was so grateful for the lessons taught that day and promised to always maintain all their facilities so as to live a better healthy life. Suzan went ahead and thanked all the members for participating in the activity and the meeting came to an end.
