- Notes
- The rains have so much slowed the work of recent because it’s raining everyday and the people are not concentrating to improve their sanitation standards as required. It’s too much rain in Ndhalike village and many people that are still lacking the pits can’t do anything because the ground is so soft and they fear digging the pits because they can easily sink. Also some of the facilities that were recently constructed have been damaged by the recent rains. Those that have not yet roofed their pit latrines have had many challenges of their structures collapsing because of the rains. Alex encouraged the sanitation committee to tell all their village people to start contributing money towards roofing their pit latrines. Kibo can help with a percentage of 70% and 30% from the village resident towards buying an iron sheet to roof their pit latrines. Alex put emphasis on the pit Latrine construction and visited only the homes that are still missing them. This rain season is such a delicate time because people’s lives are in danger and so it’s important to continue sensitizing the village on dangers of open defecation and better sanitation practices.
