Notes
Alex was in Kisiro to meet with the water committee and conduct a training of the committee about their roles and responsibilities during this process of borehole construction. He told them that when time comes to have the drilling rig in their village, it’s their responsibility to keep these trucks and their machines day and night. They should make sure nothing gets lost from their village. Also met with the second land owner where the second well is to be drilled to ask him if he was ready to allow the borehole be drilled on his land and that he was willing sign the land agreement. It was also noted that he was very happy and ready to allow a well to be drilled. The water committee has already raised the money to build a wall fence around the two wells. This amounts to 600,000/= to construct borehole fences around both wells to be drilled in Kisiro. Together with the water committee, they visited some of the households that were greatly affected by the heavy rains. The village being sandy in most parts of it, many pit Latrines have sunk and many pit latrines collapsing. Alex encouraged them to replace them quickly and on a very good note many of the people have adopted that it’s good to replace their facilities whenever they collapse. It’s a positive sign to show that many people in Kisiro have changed their behaviors and see it as a shame to defecate in the open than it was before. More than two times that this village has been hit by bad storms that made some people lose their houses and many other facilities. Drilling in this village is expected sometime soon
