- Notes
- Alex had a meeting with the new water user committee to follow up on the community contributions and prepare them before the expected borehole drilling in Kisiro village. The water user committee members told Alex that the village had contributed money that was asked by Kibo group as part of the village contributions towards the borehole construction. The water user committee is also ready to take up the responsibility of feeding the workers and taking care of the drilling machines for all the days they will take while drilling the two water points in Kisiro. Alex also briefed them about making sure that the village has a responsibility of making sure that drilling trucks are kept very well day and night and that nothing should go missing. Together with two sanitation committee members, they visited some homes that had lost their pit latrines and encouraged people to replace their pit latrines and other facilities like kitchens that had collapsed. Bombo Musa lost his new pit latrine he had just constructed recently but he had started digging a new one. The chairman LC3 had a big out cry that many had lost their facilities because of the sandy soils and had started a campaign in the sub county to encourage the people to replace their facilities and construct long lasting pit latrines that can sustain heavy rains. He however appreciated Kibo group for the tremendous job done in Kisiro helping many households understand the value of proper hygiene and sanitation. Two new wells are expected to be drilled in Kisiro village soon to save Kisiro parish from the big water stress they have. WASH staff guys continues to work with Kisiro village to sensitize more about the required hygiene and sanitation facility construction and standards and as wells as prepare the village for borehole drilling.
