Notes
The meeting with the community was about teaching more about the importance of hand washing and rolling out construction of hand washing stands in the village. All the village leaders were present at the meeting and were requested again to be proactive and engage all the village people to embrace hand washing in their homes. Alex told the gathering that only the homes that have these hand washing stands have the first priority to receive hand washing Jerrycans from Kibo group. All the people have been encouraged to practice hand washing in their homes and teach even their children. Some people still preferred to use tippy taps and Alex encouraged them to construct them in their homes. The rainy season on going has had some challenges because very few people have been able to do something in their homes. The first 30 Jerrycans will be given out to all that have completed construction of the hand washing facilities. The rains have reduced lately and the people that turned up for the meeting promised to speed up working in their homes and build these new stands because majority of the people love them. Alex also visited some homes in the trading center to check on the sanitation progress and realized that Florence had completed roofing her pit latrine with the iron sheet she received from Kibo group. The church of Christ preacher at Naibowa also completed a new pit measuring 30ft. There has been a slow progress in construction of the sanitation facilities in the village because of too much rains. However the village has been encouraged to maintain their hygiene and sanitation standards because of the disease out break that spreads easily.
