Notes
The people embraced the program, constructing good standard facilities. Most of the community members are saving some money to construct good facilities. We have been teach and emphasizing sustainability of all the facilities. There are families that have invested in some money to construct strong latrines more so the people who are constructing in the trading centre and stay in small plots of land so instead of dig pits everywhere, the residents in those areas are digging 25ft to 40ft deep. They are also using bricks and cement as well as concrete slabs. Today during my visit, I found 4 new latrines under construction and two new pits that are dug. They promised me by Friday this week, they will complete constructing structures on them. There is still a challenge of dish racks in the trading center where some people have the ones that they carry in and out since they are just tenants. There a few families with tress around the centre so they can construct dish racks which are strong. The community members who have constructed good dish racks are the people who stay outside of the trading centers. The sub-county health inspector appreciated the wonderful work of teaching the community the importance and benefits of proper sanitation in homes and also the challenges like diseases which may result due to poor hygiene.
