- Notes
- Enock and Martin made a visit in this community to check on latrine construction, dish rack, shower area and other facilities. They went to continue teaching the residents about the core values and importance of proper sanitation and hygiene. They guided the residents about the smear their facilities and use ash in latrines to chase flies. They also spoke about the many diseases and reminded the residents about the dangers of open defecation more so in homes which where digging new pits so that they can spread up and learn the benefits of sanitation. Many homes which had lost their facilities due to heavy rainfall, where encouraged to use cement and sand to construct strong structures and avoid repeating and wasting a lot of time doing the same time over and again. The community members where so grateful for all the lessons and encouragement from the wash guys and promise to improve on the sanitation levels.
There are two newly constructed latrines, one new dish rack which was constructed very well. There are many people who are constructing he new hand washing model although they haven’t used cement on them. Martin encouraged them to buy some cement and sand to construct better structures. Enock evaluated and monitored the improvements going on but guided the residents on standardization of all the facilities, families which had shower areas without cement and proper drainage, were encouraged to construct them. Families with dish racks but not up to standard where also taught the importance of using strong poles and use less nails while constructing. The chairman and his VHT were given a assessment to also mobilize and encourage their fellow residents to complete the construction of facilities.
