Notes
When Tom and Alex arrived in the village, they found when the vhts and the chairman were waiting for them at the chairman ‘s place along side many other people who had come to attend the traditional marriage ceremony at the home of chairman ‘s brother. They first held a meeting in which Tom introduced Alex to them as another person from Kibo who will as well start working with them on the issue of Sanitation and hygiene. They also met some residents at the ceremony who have also not yet finished their facilities and Tom used that opportunity to encourage them as well as many others offered their thanks to Kibo for improving on their Sanitation. Later they left the meeting place and started to move around. Among the homes visited were those homes where the residents are constructing as well as those about to finish or who have finished. They moved in the homes near the chairman’s place and found three pits being dug. They also moved into one home where they found one latrine being constructed on while another is just being dug. Tom and Alex encouraged them to continue working and finish up their facilities. They also visited the home of mr Sunday who confessed that he used to run away but after understanding the value of sanitation and hygiene, he has now constructed all facilities and they are among the best in the village. Also during the meeting, other people from Bulyowa came and they were surprised to see Tom and Alex in budumba. They also shared about how their village changed through Sanitation and hygiene and they encouraged the residents of budumba to do the same to improve and change their village so that there is no open defecation.
