- Village Notes
- Tom reached the village and together with the sanitation and hygiene committee started moving around the village to check on sanitation and hygiene improvements. They started by moving around the trading center before moving towards the upper section of the village. In trading center, they found a new pit that they are still digging. The pit is about 20ft now. The two residents joined efforts to dig one pit and construct on it two rooms. Tom encouraged them to dig up to 30ft before constructing on it. Later they moved to a section where there are three homes but all had no latrines before. Now, only one of them has started digging a new pit for a new Latrine. The second home, they have also started working on the new pit. Tom and the vhts moved to several other homes and among those homes is the home of one of the committee members. He had earlier dug a pit of about 15ft but after visiting a home of another village committee member who had dug 25ft, he felt challenged and also added on to his and now it's about 20ft. In two homes, two new latrines have been finished and they have been constructed out of cement and brick. The men in these two homes said they are now more happy in their homes than before. Also, their neighbors are about to finish their two new latrines. Tom encouraged the committee members to continue encouraging the residents and to know that some time will come when all the community will appreciate the good work they are doing in their village.
