Notes
Tape and Suzan went to Ituba Namalowe with the purpose of monitoring the stove usage and the maintenance of the other program facilities such as the bathrooms, kitchens, latrines, rubbish pits and dish racks. When they reached the village, they went to the secretary’s home and found members already gathered with some of their committee group leaders outside the house. The members warmly welcomed Tape and Suzan and after exchanging greetings, they briefly sat down and the chairperson made some updates about the ongoing program activities such as rebuilding the destroyed facilities and smearing of the buildings as well as building stoves at their neighboring villages. The members had also opened up a savings account whereby they would save some money whenever they built fuel efficient stoves for the members at their neighboring villages. About 48 members were now cooking on their new stoves without any complains while others needed to rebuild their stoves so that they would cook effectively since they had placed them at the wrong wind directions. Later after, Kibo staff and the members got up and began moving around the village visiting home to home while monitoring monitoring different facilities. According to observations, some members had roofed their kitchens with new grass, built strong dish racks and smeared their stoves and other buildings which was so impressive to see. A few group members had also not built kitchens and were seen still cooking on the three stones open flames although they had promised to build them with time. Kibo staff thanked all the members for the good work done and encouraged them to continue maintaining their facilities for a healthy living, and the meeting came to an end.
