Notes
Suzan went to Kagulu B to guide the participants on how to remove the banana stems from the fuel efficient stoves. When she got there she met some of the members already at the meeting place waiting patiently with their committee leaders. They happily welcomed Suzan and then first settled down to figure out how the whole activity was going to be carried out that day. The members were divided into two groups mixing up men and women because this would enable each person to watch and participate easily without squeezing one another in one kitchen instead. The two groups went to separate homes where the stoves were previously built, picked up the knives, pangas and began piercing the old stems out the stoves which were a bit hard. The men mostly participated in the first step because it needed enough energy and the women joined in the last steps such as smearing the stoves and kitchen walls. The two groups succeeded in taking out the stems from two fuel stoves while Suzan kept on guiding them until they completed the whole process. Suzan requested all the members to see that they always improve in their sanitation and hygiene around their homes and also to maintain all their facilities for a better healthy living. The members thanked Suzan for the lessons that day and the meeting came to an end wishing one another a happy stay.
