- This was the first visit to Butabira village and Alex went to asses the borehole situation after the village applied to Kibo group in need of a borehole repair. Together with the hand pump mechanic, they met with the two borehole committee members who cried out so much for help to fix their only village borehole. For the last 3 years, the borehole has disturbed them fixing it almost every month. The borehole has got bad pipes and rods, it was installed with galvanized and plastic pipes together. The community has continued to put money together to fix it every time it breaks down. Alex also moved around the village to check on the sanitation standards and realized that there is need to sensitize the village more about the proper sanitation standards and practices as some homes were missing pit latrines. WASH will consider to start working in this new village beginning January 2020 starting with a baseline survey to ascertain the village sanitation status.
