- Notes
- Enock and Martin made a visit in this community to check on the progress of latrine construction and maintenance , dish racks construction and usage, kitchen areas, shower areas and standardization, rubbish pits and how to manage rubbish around the homestead, smearing of shower areas and latrines, construction of hand washing sanitation, maintenance as well as emphasized the use of hand washing stations. Before the meeting Enock and Martin went around the community to also mobilize the community that they had arrived and waiting for them to come and attend the meeting. As they walked around, they checked on all the facilities. When they came back to the meeting area. They met the some of the community members already waiting at the meeting area. The chairman open the meeting by introducing the kibo team, welcomed all the members and told them to listen to what we came to talk about. Martin went first and asked the community how the program is going, asked them about the challenges and how can we solve them together so that each is encouraged and understands the importance of the program. Enock spoke about the information from the second survey which was constructed and mentions some of the names of people who didn’t have latrines and asked if those homes have now completed the construction of their latrine. Some of the residents completed their latrines and just waiting to purchase and iron sheet to roof their latrine. One of the biggest challenges was people’s latrines are breaking down before they are not roofed. Whereby some say grass to roof is so scarce and their main focus is on buying an iron sheet. We reminded all the residents about the core values of sanitation and hygiene, standardization, encourage all their families and friends to embrace the program. This will help improve their development, save money from many medical expenses and loss of lives. The residents appreciated the meeting and willing to change from their old behaviors.
