Notes
There was some good progress in homes which were visited. Enock , the LC1 and VHT had some target homes which were lagging on their sanitation and needed to be checked. The good news was the owners of these homes were found digging the pits, some were already constructing on the new latrines. The chairman and VHTs led Enock and the Health inspector to another section in this village where they saw many new latrines in people’s homes, good shower areas, kitchen areas, few hand washing facilities and use of Ash in the latrine was embraced. There were few flies seen in the latrines seen. Most of the people are also using the Rubbish pits and hence clean compounds. There was also an old lady who didn’t have a latrine for a longtime. Enock had talked to some of the relatives to help there grandma dig a pit latrine. On this visit, they found when they had finished digging the pit of about 10ft deep and planning to construct on it since she stays alone they are going to construct a structure on it so that she can start using the latrine. The sub-county health inspector Abby appreciated the work Kibo is doing in his area. He said that this village was one of the worst in the sub-county with a very low latrine coverage.
